Most likely its because the song is rather monotonous, particularly in the later verses - also, with the BMB version being an instrumental, the "charm" of the lyrics are lost. I'm happy they did it the way they did it.

Also, when you think about it, there are only 6 verses of the song that mention animals. You have to include the "five golden rings" which is about the only chorus the song has...

There are no copyright restrictions on "lords a'leaping..."

But there is a copyright restriction on "Maids a Milkin'" held, I believe by a porno company here in Southern California....

thinking Capt B will be the only one chuckling at this...

Leave it to Mr. Bill to send the discussion in all sorts of directions!

Well at least it's 12 drummers drumming and nothing to do with trombones...right?

Harry

...and leave it to Harry to bring up "'bones"!!!

--Mr Bill
feeling bad for steering the topic into the gutter where he may soon be living...

Well, now let's watch w/ the " ", here, shall we????!!!! Sorry, I thought read something, perhaps on the old board when this topic was brought up and I just thought that something "copywritten" had to do w/ this song abbreviated...

Maybe, I really read something similar to what was said here, then... I guess I AM delusional, or I only forgot...!
