Lee Katzman, trumpeter for Julius Wechter & The Baja Marimba Band, is noted on the following re-issue:

Pepper Adams - Critics Choice (Mighty Quinn 1103) Nov 15
— Pepper Adams (Baritone Sax), Lee Katzman (Trumpet), Jimmy Rowles (Piano), Doug Watkins (Bass), Mel Lewis (Drums)
— reissue of 1957 World Pacific album

According to www.truebluemusic.com,Mosaic's selling place for non-Mosaic materiel, this was Pepper Adams' first recording as leader. Compositions are from Tommy Flanagan,Thad Jones and Barry Harris(hmm-Mel Lewis playing on a Thad Jones comp-interesting).
I found Mighty Quinn's website-(www.mighty-quinn.net)-they seem to be bringing out some EMI holdings(Capitol,Blue Note,UA,Solid State, etc.) that don't fit the mold of Mosaic projects(multi disc sets)nor would be worth EMI to release through traditional distribution. A guy named Jerry Roche is the mastermind behind this label-he put two Leo Kottke collections together for Blue Note a couple of years ago and rereleased one of blues/folkie Chris Smither's long lost Poppy albums on the Okra-Tone label(originally produced by Mosaic co-founder Michael Cuscuna). While Mosaic is half-owned by EMI,I cannot determine if EMI money is in Mighty Quinn but the fact that such goodies as Lou Rawls' gospel material and Don Ellis on Pacific Jazz are two other releases in this batch,is great news, indeed!
Thanks,Steve,for whetting the appetite! Mac
