Here is a searchable archive of Billboard from 1920 thru 2017. CAUTION: It is a real time sucker. Once you go down this rabbit hole you may never come back out. You can search words in text OR ads. If you know the date of the thing you're looking for, it makes it much faster.
The only downside to it is, you get a hit for every iteration of a keyword you enter -- so, if you search "Carpenters," you'll get a hit for every chart appearance they made (and on every chart they were on), plus any other other mention in articles. If you know the date of the thing you're looking for, it makes it much faster/easier to find something. At least you can narrow it down by year or by decade, which helps immensely.
