I think the two were just on a fairly decent hit streak & each beginning their careers at such a young age! Just a decade apart...

Resurrected this thread coinciding w/ Adams just having an AOTW (though occurring in that fateful year of '83 when Karen left us) & of course, stuff always buzzin' in the Carpenters forum...!!!!

I used to post on the now-defunct Radio Discussions website; and there was an old-school "beautiful music" DJ on there who, even after decades, regarded the fuzztone electric guitar solo on "Goodbye To Love" with utter horror and loathing. In a way, that solo may have pointed toward the "power-ballad" era to come; and to performers like Bryan Adams and others.
