YouTube Fan Video (non-official):

David Matthews was being groomed as the replacement for Don Sebesky at CTI. And like Sebesky's two albums for CTI, Matthews recorded an album under his name, with the group name Whirlwind for the assemblage of musicians on this record.

It fits nicely into the direction Kudu was heading at the time, but is as far away from anything being recorded at CTI at the time. It's all well-performed and arranged, with a few decent solo breaks, but nothing really sticks out as memorable.
