Well after getting home from work, I had the chance to try this CD on a different player and sure enough it's doing this on a different player too so I turned the CD over to inspect it (never thought of that last night since it's brand new) and there are several visible pitts. It appears I got a defective disc, all my luck. For this price it should be perfect on the back.
I will say, other than these few seconds mentioned above, I am really impressed with the sound of this CD. As far as being able to play this in a standard CD player, I feel it's as good or even better sounding than my SACD Carpenters 69-81 based on a standard CD player. What I like most about this K2 CD is it seems to bring out all the instruments and vocals with a more crisper, brighter sound, nothing is buried in the mix, it has a clarity about it that is evident to me. It's nicely equalized too, not just a louder CD, I can tell this was mastered differently than anything I've had by the Carpenters. In my opinion I feel it's worth the price for this CD.
