That's one of the most tastless things I've ever seen! Sad, very sad...

...amazed at some peoples twisted sense of "humour"... :hurl:

How cruel a human being can be!
How ignorant and careless just an ordindary father who calls himself an artist  has become just by showing such a tasteless picture of an anorexic victim!
Now he's a disgrace to his family.
No matter how talented he is.

It really scares me when people call this sh*t "art" and proudly present it to other people.
I think he's too young to know it only takes just one peice of work to turn people's judgement of his work from the best to the worst.

He's brought down the status of this genre to the bottom.

That is art? That is a scumbag making light of a real life tragedy that devastated millions of people and took the life of one of the most gifted and talented singers of our time. If I were Richard Carpenter, I would punch this scumbag out, stuff him inside my piano and play the entire Carpenters catalog as I was serenaded by his screams. The audacity of these insensitive creeps to call that trash art!

David,
taking time to calm down now.......

Just goes to show "shock art" lacks taste.
Maybe the artist will have deep regrets later- kind of like Bette Midler did for her comments. Her apology years later showed true class and humility.

I wonder if Mr. Carpenter is suing Slave Labor Comics. If it's on the net, he or his lawyers have to have some knowledge of it.

I actually took the time to view the web site and found that this so-called "artist" (I prefer the term "souless pornographer") does quite a bit of "work" on other artists. He illustrates other musicians, like John Lennon and Jimi Hendrix with great respect. In fact EVERY other musician he illustrates is done that way. The only other distasteful illustration he did was of Liberace, and that wasn't even close to the horrible tasteless depiction of Karen. I truely hope he grows up one day and realizes that his "talent" can be used to create some good in the world instead of being used as a tool to hurt others and cause suffering.

I am very fortunate to be aquainted with a wonderful artist, Jeff Eckert, who now resides in Florida. He has done work FOR Richard and the Carpenter family and other celebs (Julie Andrews, etc.). Unfortunately he has no web site, but his pictures are done all in pencil and look like black and white photos. I was honored to recieve from him a lithograph he did of Karen, of which only 5 exist: Richard has one, Evelyn Wallace has one, Herb Alpert has one, Agens and Harold have (had?) one, and I have one. Jeff, obviously, has the original. It is a straight-on shot of Karen, head and shoulders, with a music sheet behind her. What is really cool, other than it looks like an actual photograph, is that the music notes, go from left to right behind Karen. Once they are on the right side of Karen's head (Karen's left side) the music notes are no more. The song? Goodbye to Love. It is a wonderful picture with a great statement. Mr. Eckert was also commissioned once to paint a picture of Harold's mother. She looked eeeerily like Karen! If you get a chance to see Mr. Eckert's work, you should. Some of his works, from what I understand, travel the east coast in exhibits.
