Wow. I've been offline for a couple of weeks and no one has heard this album???? Incredible! :shake:

This is classic Coltrane. He had just finished recording Kind Of Blue with Miles' band when he recorded this album. This established his "sheets of sound" tag that was given to him. 'Trane is nothing less than amazing on these tracks. "Giant Steps" is a tough tune to play to begin with given the ever changing chord progression throughout the song, but Trane makes it sound easy. The same can be said with "Countdown". On the other hand he can also display his quieter side with the ballad "Naima". My favorite track is the grooving "Mr. P.C.", written for Paul Chambers.

While the alternate tracks are interesting to listen to, they don't really add to the album. There's a reason the original album had the first 7 tracks. They were simply better takes.
