While watching the Lucy TV movie last evening, I found it ironic that so many talent scouts in New York told her she didn't have any talent, that she would never make it on stage, in films, etc. Those scouts learned to eat their words!
Come to think of it, shortly after being booted from the Redlands University music and drama departments, Karen Philipp was signed to Brasil '66. So here we have it...Karen made it! I wonder what those music and drama professors must have thought the next time they picked up a Brasil '66 album?
How many other A&M artists faced such adversity on the way up? There have to be many similar stories -- Hollywood is full of 'em. I'm basically interested in those associated with A&M Records.
