In 1987, Columbia/Epic began reissuing a series of 12-inch single mixes called Mixed Masters. Rather than reissue the original 12-inch singles, the records had a hit remix on both sides, kind of like a double A-side. Most were a single artist, but a few of the releases had different artists on each side (like 44H-06898, with Gary's Gang "Keep on Dancin'" on one side and Patrick Hernandez "Born to be Alive" on the other). As the original 12-inchers were becoming scarce and/or worn out by DJs over the years, these reissues were very much welcome. I regret not buying more of these. By 1989, some of these were also being released as CD maxi-singles, and the series was also rebooted for a short run of further reissues in 1997.
These two tracks by The Jacksons have notable differences from the album versions.
