Has anyone purchased or read the book Carpenters: All the Top 40 Hits? It is by Craig Halstead. Saw it recently on Amazon and trying to decide if I want to buy it.
Hi Jonathan,
yes I have had the book for a couple of years now... I would definitely recommend it. It's a great book to read but also to use as a quick reference book. It contains the chart positions of every album / single which charted in at least one Top 40 chart around the world. It also has a list of American and British certifications.
what I have also done is gone through it with a pencil adding other chart positions (such as the adult contemporary chart numbers) and updating it with "The Nations Favourite Carpenters Songs" album which charted at #2 here in Britain.
I, too, purchased this book and found it quite enjoyable. From the colorful front cover (with cover artwork of a variety of albums and singles) to the painstaking documentation of chart action in various countries to other interesting trivia, this book is like a Wikipedia discography in print, but it goes beyond that. As @Simon KC1950 says --- Simon says, get it? --- it is also a great reference tool!
