There's a couple of news stories out that talk with American Idol host Simon Cowell, who says that Herb Alpert's "This Guy's In Love With You" is the "sexiest song ever". I can't stand that show myself, and like this Simon guy even less. But I guess he's popular and people will listen to what he says.

On the other hand, his list of other "great" songs is a little dubious to me. Here's his list:

Bobby Darin "Mack the Knife"; Herb Alpert "This Guy's in Love With You"; Charles Aznavour "She"; Righteous Brothers "Unchained Melody"; Wayne Newton "Danke Schoen"; Daniel Bedingfield "If You're Not the One"; Sammy Davis Jr "Mr Bojangles"; Frank Sinatra "Summer Wind".

"Mr Bojangles:confused: "Danke Schoen"? Ugh!

I'll agree with "Unchained Melody," "This Guy's In Love With You" and "Danke Schoen."

But the rest of his list? Pshaw!

My vote for sexiest songs ever would go to:
"Sex (I'm a...)" by Berlin, (1984)
"I'm Too Sexy" by Right Said Fred (199?)
"Sex Dwarf" by Soft Cell (1982)
"Orgasm Addict" by Buzzcocks (1978)
"Secret Lover" by Skafish (1983)
"I'm a Wanker" by Ivor Biggun (19??)
Anything by Barry White
Anything by Claudine Longet
"I Touch Myself" by Divinyls (199?)
"Too Young To Date" by D-Day (1979)

:D

"I'm too sexy for Bahrain..."

Where's Love Potion #9--and not by The Searchers, but by Elkie Brooks, and of course, by Herb Alpert & TjB...

I would say Do Ya Think I'm Sexy by Rod Stewart should fit the list, too...but..., :baah:

In the "Obscure Pop Music Catagory", would be a male/female duet, known as Fire & Rain, consisting of Manny Friesen & Pat McCarron... (Don't know which would be which in terms of the "elements", though...) Their Song would be Make Love To Me on their (2nd album; their First [with covers of Hello Stranger and (Don't You Want) Somebody To Love] was on Mercury) album, Living Together (Which actually was arranged by Artie Butler, for "those who are collectors" like me!) on 20th Century (T 481)... (Which Pat McCarron sings a Longer Version as a 'Solo' on a '45', I also have; a Double-Sided White-Label "Disco DJ Copy", complete with all the "Moans"...!

And Love's Theme by The Ray Conniff Singers; imagine yourself cruisin' down LaBrea Avenue in a '70's Cadillac Eldorado Convertible to that one! :badteeth:

...with a few ... Xexy Xongs!!! , online...

the sexiest song, i always thought was "like a lover," by brasil 66.

lani's vocals were always the sexiest i'd ever heard
and the lyrics defined sensual

Like a lover, the morning sun
Slowly rises and kisses you awake
Your smile is soft and fuzzy
As you let it play upon your face
Oh, how I dream
I might be like the morning sun to you

Like a lover, the river wind
Sighs and ripples its fingers through your hair
Upon your cheek it lingers
Never having known a sweeter place
Oh, how I dream
I might be like the river wind to you

How I envy a cup that knows your lips
Let it be me, my love
And a table that feels your fingertips
Let it be me, let me be your love
Bring an end to the endless days and nights
Without you

Like a lover, the velvet moon
Shares your pillow and watches while you sleep
Its light arrives on tiptoe
Gently taking you in its embrace
Oh, how I dream
I might be like the velvet moon to you

Oh, how I dream
I might be like the river wind to you

How I envy a cup that knows your lips
Let it be me, my love
And a table that feels your fingertips
Let it be me, let me be your love
Bring an end to the endless days and nights
Without you

Like a lover, the velvet moon
Shares your pillow and watches while you sleep
Its light arrives on tiptoe
Gently taking you in its embrace
Oh, how I dream
I might be like the velvet moon to you

I might be like the velvet moon to you

I might be like the velvet moon to you

Well, to me, Lani, Claudine etc. do have a very "inviting voice" but hardly anything I'd really equate with "Sexiness" as much as say, Sylie Vartan or Pink Lady... Obscurities like Patti Dahlstrom and Barbi Benton come to mine as far as anything "attempted" go) --Guess it's really all in the 'delivery', really...

I mean, listen to what THE SANDPIPERS did with Temptation and Wave...

Time to 'adjust the Meds'...

Watch out for Side-Effects and Use Only as Directed; we don't want anyone to Overdose! :bone:

...Hoping we get back into "Material" and not so much concentrate on "Artists", as ANYONE can really make something "Sound Seducive"...!

Lani doesn't have a sexy voice, IMHO, but when she's put before a backdrop of lush string arrangements, she sounds tremendously sweet. Case in point:

NP: "The Christmas Song," SM & B66

Sexiest song? "The Look Of Love". Either Lani/Sergio or Dusty Springfield. And songwriting credits go to A&M's own (at least at the time) Burt Bacharach!

---Michael Hagerty

As for The Look Of Love, it took nearly EVERY A&M Artist to cover that... Vocally AND Instrumentally...! And given that we've discussed Claudine and I mentioned Sylvie Vartan, I guess it's only fair to drop in the names of Veronica Sanson and Miriam Miroku...

The problem there is that it was Janis Hansen who took the lead vocal on Sergio's "The Look Of Love". It's true though that Lani was on the recording doing backing vocals, though. She performed part of the song on Herb's version (COLORS).

Gato's album PASSION AND FIRE (SP 3029) sort of has a porn flick soundtrack feeling to it.

Sexiest song? That's gotta be "Love to Love You, Baby" by Donna Summer.

...And that's what the Obscure Make Love To Me by Fire & Rain, done in 1975 on 20th Century (Particularily the Female member of that duet, doing it on a '45', arranged by Joe Saraceno, who was their arranger on their 1st LP on Mercury) really smacks of...!

Hopefully a Two-Fer, plus Bonus Singles gets reissued on CD, as "underground" as they may be...!

My vote goes to "Je T'aime moi non plus" ("Love At First Sight") by Jane Birken and Serge Gainsbourg (written by Serge and sung by both) circa 1969. Jane wasn't much of a singer, but she she was incredibly sexy and had a "breathy" kind of haunting voice much like Claudine Longet. The song itself has one of the most gorgeous melodies ever. It was also recorded around the same time by a British outfit called "Sounds Nice". To the best of my knowledge, they had 2 versions; one was a straight instrumental and featured a guitar lead. The other was the same track with a female voice overlay simulating an orgasm. All of these can be found often on ebay and Gemm.

The TJB version of DON'T GO BREAKING MY HEART always does it for me...and I WILL WAIT FOR YOU comes in a close second...I think SRO was the sexiest album the TJB ever did; it shoulda had Delores on the cover...
