Week #29: Songwriters Series: "Williams/Nichols"

I voted for "Rainy Days And Mondays" because it is my all-time favorite Carpenters recording. But "Let Me Be The One" is an oh-so-close second.

Very difficult poll to resolve ....

Could easily tie 3 or 4 Williams / Nichols songs ....great partnership that provided so many wonderful songs for Karen & Richard ..

Eventually selected an all time favourite ....Karen's expressive, moving interpretation & vocal plus Richard's stunning arrangement & production ...(doubt whether Jack Daughtery contributed that much to studio recordings) ....

Alright, although I like the hit tunes "We've only just begun" and "Rainy days", the ones that stand out for me are "Ordinary fool" and "Let me be the one". Ordinary fool has this wonderful jazzy saloon feel, yet I picked Let me be the one... beautiful melody!!
