Today is Burt Bacharach Day at A&M Corner! Burt reaches the young age of 39 83 today, and he's still out there keeping busy and making music.
One of his more recent projects is with Irish vocalist Ronan Keating on a set titled When Ronan Met Burt. It is an album of covers of familiar Bacharach songs, backed by a 95-piece orchestra and recorded at the legendary Capitol Records studio. I have not yet heard it, but the reviews are rather mixed on this one, at best praising Bacharach while bringing to light the mediocre-at-best vocal talents of Keating.
Rumer has also recorded a couple of Bacharach tunes. She does a nice cover of "Alfie," and also sings a new Bacharach composition called "Some Lovers" (written for an upcoming stage project) which was released around the holidays last year. "Alfie" is on the bonus tracks version of her 2010 album Seasons Of The Soul.
