Longtime members will know of my fondness for The Corrs, a group comprised of four Irish siblings, three sisters and a brother. While they've been busy with family stuff and real life, it's been going on four years since their last album, and many fans are getting restless. Latest word is that the new album could come out in March of 2004.
Recently, there's been news of other projects that they've been involved in during this long break. Last year we had that special LIVE IN DUBLIN album that was only released in the US, and they appeared at the PARTY AT THE PALACE for the Queen's Jubilee, which later came out on both CD and DVD.
This weekend, they'll be performing at a South African concert with hometown artists, Ladysmith Black Mambazo. Portions of that Aids-benefit concert will air around the world - MTV will have highlights here in the US. Word is that CDs and DVDs of the full event will follow in 2004.
Meanwhile, a couple of recorded tracks have surfaced. The first, mentioned in another thread, has The Corrs doing some backing work with Sheryl Crow on "C'mon, C'mon" from her VERY BEST OF SHERYL CROW A&M album. It's only on the import editions, so you'll need to find it online. Most stateside stores only have the US edition.
And Andrea Corr has recorded a lead vocal track on the soundtrack album to an upcoming movie, IN AMERICA. The track, called "Time Enough For Tears", was released this week on the soundtrack album from Warners, and the song is a gentle light-jazz-like ballad - very pleasant. The song was written by Bono, Gavin Friday, and Maurice Seezer, the latter two writing the movie's score.
And we're all still awaiting release information for the movie that Andrea acted in called "The Boys From County Clare". It's gotten pretty good reviews at several film festivals. She plays a violin player!
It's almost enough to keep a Corrs fan happy!
