I was checking out the Herb Alpert videos on AMG and did a little touring. The Julius Wechter page said that he had appeared in some films, but it only lists "Young Man With a Horn."
Does anyone know anything about his "movie career?"

In the summer of 1969, in Bradford, PA., I heard a commercial on the radio with music that sounded unmistakably like Baja Marimba Band. The melody resembled Dave Clark Five's "Because" but the tempo and style matched the trombone opening to BMB's "Yes Sir, That's My Baby." No marimbas, but the...

Anyone a fan of these crazy guys? I've been slowly finding their LPs and I'm a little upset to realize that their appearance on CD is virtually non-existent.
Does anyone know if Shout Factory will pick them up next? I hope so!
Since I'm putting this under the Tijuana Brass thread, the results may be skewed. I'm curious as to who else has an appreciation for the Baja Marimba crew. I was introduced to the Brass many years ago, and have always been a fan. I was only introduced to the BMB 3 or 4 years ago.
After...
It doesn't seem possible that 6 years have gone by since Julius' passing. He was our friend in that he was regularly in our homes. What great pleasure he gave all who listened to his music. Who could not listen without a large grin? For those who had the opportunity to see a concert or TV...
Just got a two disk set of Doris Day favorites called Golden Girl. It has a very detailed list of the studio musicians who played on the recording.
Several of them had TJB connections. I noticed Tommy Tedesco on one cut. The best surprise was Julius Wechter playing percussion on "Let...
I went to the Record Collector in Ferndale, Michigan (near Detroit) & picked up the Baja Marimba Band "As Time Goes By" which cost $ 1.99. Two weeks later, I also took a trip down to Saugatuck & Douglas, Michigan (10 miles from Holland) & picked up Baja Marimba Band "Back!" (Bell) at the Blue...
The late Julius Wetcher was devoted to The Tourette's Syndrome Association. My daughter was recently diagnosed with Tourette's Syndrome and my question is : What made Julius get so deeply involved? Did he have Tourette's? Or was it maybe a family member of his?
Julius Wechter wrote a song, Moon Child for the Ventures. It has also been said, he played conga on the Ventures In Space album. If anyone knows this album(Im sure you do) Do you hear any congas in that album?
Hi
Can anyone help me with information regarding the Baja Marimba Band's appearance on the Ed Sullivan show insofar as the title of the track they performed
thanks
Tony
I purchased the Best of the BMB CD (A&M POCM-1575 [Japan] 1998) a couple years ago and was completely under-whelmed. It was good music, but it didn’t reach out to me and say, “Hey, listen!”. Well, during the course of procuring all Herb Alpert’s stuff on vinyl to transfer to CD, I picked-up a...
Hey y'all,
I was wondering, does anyone have a front or back scan of The Baja Marimba Band's "Fresh Air" album? I'm putting the finishing touches on on a vinyl-cd conversion, and I'd like to make a jewel case for it.
Please contact me at: [email protected]
Any help is appreciated!

Okay fellow Cornerites, especially those of you with ears keen enough to notice dropouts on "Monday, Monday", I hereby make this declaration. The first 4 Baja albums were essentially the TJB featuring Julius Wechter. I say the only difference between the early BMB and TJB was who was at the...
